Default 2014 APC

Why does the SOA only have 2013 APC's listed....when will some new courses become available?

Due to the recent flooding of the actuarial job market, the SOA has decided to halt the ASA credentialing process for 1 year in order to ensure the job security of the current actuaries.

One week ago they told me that 2014 dates would be posted in two weeks.

It's worth exploring this stat. Over the past three years, has the growth in the number of credentialed actuaries, divided by the retirement rate of actuaries, divided by the growth rate of the work force*, exceeded 1.0? Furthermore, how much has it exceeded? With the SOA wanting actuaries to work in more industries, they should expect a certain level of growth to fulfill this extra demand.

*Is work force just the number of employed workers in the United States, Canada, China and other countires that use the SOA examination system, or should we look at industry growth rates for all of these countries? Furthermore, the CAS has to be carved out of this equation at some point.

I believe we've already established that there won't be any 2014 APCs.

From the SOA:
"There will be no APC sessions in January. The February information will be posted by the end of the month. Thank you for your patience."

This sounds OK to me. I can't sign up until I get my official pass for MFE in early January, that should be enough time for me to sign up for a February APC. As long as it's lower 48. (please oh please oh please be somewhere warm!)

I'm curious how late I can register. I live in Dallas, and thus do not want to attend the Dallas APC course. I would really like to wait and see the new APC course list, but the two dates are converging....
