Default how do I transfer exam credits btw SOA->CAS & usefulness of SAS ?

I have passed 2 of my preliminary exams via SOA and wanted to know the procedure to transfer that credit over to my CAS profile.

I searched CAS's website but the information wasn't so clear to me.

also I'd like to ask if it's useful at all to have SAS certificate when you find a job in PC field.

Thank you in advance.

preliminary exams will transfer from soa to cas without problem. there is nothing you need to do. the prelims are mostly jointly administered by the soa/cas/cia (canadians). they have the results already.

sas credentials are worth having in some jobs, yes. few jobs would require it, but for the data mining type jobs, I am guessing its a huge plus.

As many actuaries prefer to mine their own data, I would consider it a plus not to have to teach someone SAS.

Close, but not quite true. If you checked the little box on the application asking for joint credit, you get joint credit. You don't need to do anything. If you didn't, or you aren't sure, you e-mail the CAS and request joint credit be granted. They will take care of it.

BTW, CAS members can look up candidate exam status on line. If you know a CAS member, have them look you up to confirm what the CAS thinks you have passed.

Edit: It doesn't seem to be a members only feature. You can check it yourself.

maine-iac: as soon as the person checks off that they work in a P/C role, it will all be corrected. eventually, it will show up, and there is nothing to worry about.

Only exception to that might be MLC. I had to call and ask them to verify that I passed the exam so that I could get credit for 3L.
