We are debating signing up just for hockey playoffs since the NHL.tv app is getting blacked out so much during playoffs.

I have PS Vue (and cable, ahah, included in my rent but it's bad) and have been fairly happy with it on PS4 but it's awful mobile. The DVR skips and stutters and I have decent coverage. Maybe I need to turn down the resolution.

The DVR and on-demand functionalities are blended well. Wish it had Comedy Central. Got HBO with it. Pretty good for $55/mo? 5 screen max. Just the right price point to justify (I was paying $15/mo for HBO standalone anyway)

My cable is a set top box through TIVO and it's sooooo clunky. Takes years to find something to watch or use the DVR.

Don't you have a cable card for the TiVo box? Surely, you're not using the old version with what seems to be a remote override?

It's through the cable provider. Their box has a Tivo UI, not the actual service. But it's dinosauric. Takes forever to scroll, load, etc.

Too much fragmentation and price escalation going on with these services. It's almost like they're in a conspiracy to drive people back to cable TV.

But at least they have honest pricing, unlike the cable companies which advertise a $50 package which becomes $70 after undisclosed fees, surcharges and taxes are added, then it jumps to $90 when the promotional rate expires.
