What will he do if he doesn't actually finish the task? What is the long term prognosis for being on steroids that long? Perhaps he should take heart medication. Is Digitalis on the banned list?

Who cares?

Barry Bonds isn't NOW.

Jeff Gordon is NOW

I don't see Bud Selig attending game after game while seeing teams walk Barry. I think he will "suggest" to owners that they not pitch around him.

That's obsurd. In fact suggesting that teams will pitch to him in any way other than what their normal plan of action would be for the game situation is just ridiculous.

Suggesting that a pitcher may be a little more cautious not wanting to be the one to throw the gopher ball may lead to more walks than normal though.

As for Selig, I thought he already said he has no plans to attend any of the games in which Barry could break the record...and for someone worried about "the integrity of major league baseball" telling managers to pitch to him to get it over with sure doesn't walk the walk.

It would be an interesting twist if all of the managers / pitchers in the league came to an agreement that once Bonds ties Aaron, he will never face another pitch again, instead being intentionally walked every at bat until retirement.

Seems like it'd solve a lot of problems.

It would solve all the problems MLB made for itself when it ignored steroid abuse for decades while other hitters set records, only to find itself in a quandry now that the public's attention has caught up with reality?

Why waste three pitches?
