So there's some sort of affinity that Will has with the Upside Down that probably makes him a "suitable host" over the others. I think part of that *is* explained in that he has had the "embryo" of a demi-dog inside of him. No other person has had that level of experience (except for Hopper, possibly).

I agree that Ep 7 was important for both 011/Jane's "development" . . . but more importantly, it was a great episode to help show a contrast between the values 011/Jane "learned" from the folks from Hawkins (especially from Mike) and the values "taught" by 008 and her gang.

One thing I would point out with that episode, however . . . one that I think the producers are trying to set up w/o being explicit in its set up . . . you'll note that 011/Jane's "power" was highly effective and "natural" when she was protecting someone she "loves" (i.e., Mike) while she had to "work hard" at getting that effectiveness through anger.
Hopping in late here but didn't Nancy go to the upside down and survive in season 1?

I was thinking the same thing. I thought there would be an elaborate backstory to their relationship, but then... just step sibs. Whatever I guess.

They have Steve's buddy Frecklejuice from season 1 to fill that role. Dude was a complete heel.

True, but . . .

Spoiler:

None of them were dragged there by the demi-dogs. They just happened upon an opening into the upside down and managed to come back.

But ...
Spoiler:
Will was totally cacoonized. Others weren't.

Are we still using spoilers?

That too . . . however . . .

Spoiler:

Hopper was also "near cacoonized" as well, but nothing to suggest that he'd been incubated like Will was.

IIRC, there was another scene where we're shown Barb having something "crawling" out of her mouth (or oozing or slithering).

Sesame street did a Stranger Things parody and it's awesome.
It's on youtube, about 6 minutes long.
