Default Kickstarter: "crowd-sourcing" project funding

Thought I'd highlight this site:
http://www.kickstarter.com/

The concept of the site is for people to seek those who will back their creative projects, sometimes for nothing in return, but many times with exclusive goodies backers get.

I mention it because my favorite webcomic is doing a Kickstarter project (and it looks like it will be fully funded even before it hits one week):

$649 of those dollars were mine. Looking forward to getting that box in the mail in the next several weeks.

Through Kickstarter I contributed to the funding of Debra Romer's first professionally produced album.

She's an indie musician who made it to the semifinals on America's Got Talent but didn't get* a record deal out of it. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxY9JGrPpnQ

*or perhaps rejected the onerous terms of the offers she got.
