Yup, these are the 500 m record times from the website. Sheba should submit his entry.

When I get the fastest American time I'll submit. My splits on the 1:19.1 ranged from 15.2 to 16.6. So with a little more conditioning I can get a few seconds off. I think I can get 1:16.x, which would easily be the fastest US time. That 1:10 is going to be tough. At times on my 1:19.1 I was on a 1:13 pace, but never got under that.

For those of you who row, I was up to 797 watts.

The way I understand the drag factor is that it simulates boats of different sizes, with 10 being the biggest.

I was curious... just got back from the gym at my work.

My first timed 500M - 1:49
I had it set at "4"
The fastest pace I got down to was 1:38.

Upon finishing it took me a few minutes to "catch my breath"

I can tell that I'm going to really, really, really like this machine.

Much more practical than a treadmill for me. As of right now, I jump rope for cardio when it's too hot/cold/rainy outside for a run. This will be a nice change of pace.

I used to row a fair amout for cardio a few years ago, on a crappy thing at my old gym. It didn't have a thing for pacing, or adjustable resistence. The biggest struggle I had was keeping myself on pace, mostly due to the lack of funcationality. It was easy for me to zone out and start slacking without realizing it. It required focus to keep pushing myself. I didn't like that about it. A lot like a stationary bike, in that regard imo.

Hopefully that won't be an issue with this. I'll try to get one before the end of the year.

It'd be hard to do a commercial that could adequately explain why one should pay more for the Concept 2 over the others.

As for an informercial, people that watch 30 minute infomercials probably aren't the target market for a workout machine that you actually have to work out on, rather than having it magically make your Mr. Olympia.

Seems like word of mouth is the way to go. Worked for me!

I really liked using the rowing machine last time I belonged to a gym. I wonder if it is effective for weight loss, or just conditioning?
