well...went away for almost 2 weeks, inlcuding 4 days in San Fran, and walking up and down those hills made clear that something is going on. Like after a certain point my calves just kind of stop working, and I don't feel tired, it's just they're not firing right, causing me to land incorrectly, jam my ankle and knee, etc.

Got a PT appointment Tuesday AM to see what's going on.
Oh, and I came home to a water pipe pinhole leak in my basement that was spraying directly onto the fues box. If I'd stayed away another couple of days, I'd have probably had an electrical fire.

Maybe time to talk to a doctor, as well as a PT?

I had foot pain for more than a year. It was bad enough it prevented me from doing lots of stuff, like walking a mile. It also hurt all the time. Like, I literally woke up to foot pain. I had tons of PT, which helped in some ways, but hurt in others, and in retrospect, may have done more harm than good. Then I went on estrogen for unrelated reasons, and within weeks my foot started to heal. A few months later and it only rarely bothers me. I doubt you need more estrogen, but there are all sorts of other general health issues that might be interacting with your legs.

I'm definitely due for a new MRI and talk with the surgeon, which I am going to do as well. I've been teetering on the edge of surgery for years now, but I can still do the couple of things the surgeon said "when you can't do this, that's when we go in." Was hoping to get the weight substantially down before getting cut open.

Sorry to hear about the setback. Good luck with the PT.

And I guess add plumber to Lucy's list. That is not what you want to come home to after a long trip.
