Had a few, never really liked it. I think it is a Southwest US food, and I would be surprised if anyone living in New Mexico has NOT had a Navajo Taco.

That was also an interesting story - I had no idea on the origin of it!

I grew up on a Lakota reservation, so we called them "Indian" tacos as kids. For the last decade or so, "frybread" tacos has been much more common. Either way, they're delicious, and leftover frybread is great with a bit of jam.

My parents are teaching in a native school, and they have a number of students that call them "welfare" tacos, and refuse to eat any frybread.
